Opa-locka’s Vision Zero Initiative “Let’s Take the Bus” Targets Route 27 for Enhanced Safety Measures
Continue with Vision Zero efforts to eliminate all crashes and serious injuries in the City of Opa-locka. This month, the project team focused on Route 27 transit safety. This initiative, called the “Let’s Take the Bus” challenge, was conducted through a workshop format. The goal is to educate the public and decision-makers on the frequency of crashes along NW 27th Ave., particularly near bus stops.
Opa-Locka Hosts Second Successful Vision Zero Free Bike Tune-Up Event
On July 25th, the City of Opa-Locka demonstrated its commitment to safety and sustainability by hosting the second Vision Zero Bike Tune-Up Event. Held at the Opa-locka Tri-Rail station on Ali Baba Avenue, the event was a resounding success, drawing residents together in support of safer roads and sustainable transportation.
Opa-Locka Considers Rail Safety in Upcoming Vision Zero Plan
Opa-Locka’s upcoming Vision Zero Action Plan focuses on improving railroad safety. Key messages being considered include “Stop, Look, Listen: Stay Safe at Railroad Crossings” and “Never Race a Train: It’s Better to Wait.” Recommendations under discussion range from improving signage to starting safety education programs. While still in development, these ideas show the city’s commitment to preventing accidents at railroad crossings and keeping residents safe.
