Safer Streets for Opa- Locka

ZERO TRAFFIC DEATHS

Extra, Extra, Read all about it! Vision Zero initiative launches in Palm Springs, aiming to eliminate all traffic fatalities and severe injuries!

The Village of Palm Springs has taken a bold step towards safer streets with the adoption of Vision Zero, a groundbreaking strategy to protect all road users. Vision Zero Palm Springs is more than just a slogan -it’s a commitment to redesigning our streets and changing our approach to traffic safety.

What does Vision Zero mean for Palm Springs residents? It means a future where no one loses their life or suffers severe injury while traveling on our roads. The initiative is based on the principle that every life matters and that even one traffic death is too many.

The need for such a program is clear: over the past decade, a staggering 18,101 crashes occurred on Village streets. These incidents resulted in 37 lives lost and 254 serious injuries. Vision Zero Palm Springs
aims to bring these numbers down to zero through a comprehensive action plan.

The plan focuses on five key areas: safe roads, safe speeds, safe vehicles, safe road users, and improved post-crash care. By addressing each of these elements, Palm Springs is taking a holistic approach to traffic
safety.

Citizens are encouraged to get involved in this life-saving initiative. Visit https://vzfla.com/palmsprings to learn more and have your say in creating safer streets for all.

Stay tuned for more updates as Palm Springs paves the way to a future with zero traffic fatalities!
