ZERO TRAFFIC DEATHS

Village of Palm Springs Trunk or Treat – A Vision Zero Event

On October 19th, 2024, DDEC participated in the Village of Palm Springs' Trunk or Treat event, where we gathered feedback for the Vision Zero Action Plan. Our team, represented by Uyen Dang and Orlando Toro, engaged with over 100 attendees through a survey. We're excited to use this input to help make Palm Springs safer for everyone!

On October 19th, 2024, DDEC joined the Village of Palm Springs for the annual Trunk or Treat event. It was a great opportunity to connect with the community and kick off the Vision Zero Action Plan. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., people came out, making it the perfect chance to gather feedback.

Uyen Dang and Orlando Toro represented DDEC and chatted with attendees, collecting survey responses from 103 folks. Their input really helped us understand how people in the Village get around and what safety issues matter most.

Survey Highlights:

  • How Residents travel?
    • 81.6% drive.
    • 34% walk.
    • Peak travel times were in the morning and late afternoon.
  • What are the main concerns?
    • Distracted driving (59%) and speeding (53%) were the top worries.
    • People felt safest in cars and least safe on bikes.
  • What needs work?
    • More pedestrian facilities (46.6%) and traffic calming measures (41.8%) were the big asks.

These insights are a solid starting point for the Vision Zero plan. The community wants better options for walking and biking and a focus on distracted driving. DDEC is excited to work with the Village of Palm Springs to make the streets safer for everyone.
