On July 25th, the City of Opa-Locka demonstrated its commitment to safety and sustainability by hosting the second Vision Zero Bike Tune-Up Event. Held at the Opa-locka Tri-Rail station on Ali Baba Avenue, the event was a resounding success, drawing residents together in support of safer roads and sustainable transportation.
Residents of all ages gathered for free bike maintenance services, helmets and safety checks, tune-ups, and repairs, ensuring their bicycles are in top condition. 21 helmets were distributed at no charge, 9 bicycles received essential fixes, while c 40 surveys were collected as part of the public outreach effort of the City’s Comprehensive Safety Action Plan. Local safety experts provided valuable tips on bike safety and road awareness, contributing to Vision Zero’s goal of eliminating traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries.
The event fostered a sense of community while supporting healthier and safer transportation choices. We thank everyone who participated and contributed to a safer, more connected Opa-Locka.
Our next Bike Tune-Up Event is August 29th.
