Safer Streets for Opa- Locka

ZERO TRAFFIC DEATHS

The inaugural pop-up bicycle repair station, hosted by City of Opa-locka and supported by the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) in collaboration with the Miami-Dade County Department of Public Works and Epik Ridez Bikes, exceeded all expectations. Held last week, the event garnered enthusiastic participation from the community, resulting in valuable insights and positive outcomes.

Survey Completion: A total of 20 surveys were completed by attendees, providing valuable feedback on their cycling experiences and preferences.

Helmet Distribution: We distributed 16 helmets, emphasizing safety and encouraging responsible cycling practices.

Bicycle Repairs: Our skilled technicians repaired 12 bicycles, ensuring that riders could continue their journeys smoothly.

Community Support: The SFRTA and Miami-Dade County officials actively supported the event, engaging with commuters and promoting sustainable transportation.

Safety Gadgets and Amenities: As a token of appreciation, we provided safety gadgets, refreshing water, and other amenities to commuters as they headed home.

Continuing the Momentum:  Buoyed by this success, we are committed to maintaining the momentum throughout the summer. Mark your calendars for our next Tune-Up Bicycle Repair Station, scheduled for July 25, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Tri-Rail station. Join us as we enhance the cycling experience for our community!
