The project spans from Pembroke Road to S.W. 11th Street and aims to transform the area into a Complete Street. This means enhancing the streets to be safe and accessible for all users, including pedestrians, cyclists, transit riders, and motorists. Key elements of this transformation include:
These improvements are designed to not only enhance safety and reduce congestion but also support the community’s economic and social growth, making Hallandale Beach a more connected and vibrant place for everyone.
Public Involvement Opportunities: We want to hear from you! There are several opportunities to get involved in shaping the future of 8th Avenue:
Upcoming Events:
Take Our Survey: Help us understand how you use the streets, what challenges you face, and what changes you want to see. Your feedback will directly inform the project’s design.
Goals:
Safety: To reduce traffic-related accidents and make the streets safer for all users. Special emphasis will be placed on creating safe crossings for pedestrians and improved access for cyclists.
Accessibility: Ensuring that every resident has equal access to important destinations like schools, parks, and businesses by improving walkways, bike lanes, and public transit.
Community Involvement: We believe that collaboration is key. Through workshops, public meetings, and online surveys, the community will help shape the final design.
Sustainability: Promote eco-friendly transportation options such as cycling, walking, and public transit, reducing the environmental impact of our streets.
Status: We are currently in the Preliminary Planning phase, gathering feedback from residents and stakeholders to create the most inclusive and effective design for 8th Avenue.
Improved Safety: With dedicated spaces for pedestrians and cyclists, Complete Streets reduce the number of accidents and make travel safer for everyone.
Healthier Communities: Encouraging walking and biking improves physical health and fosters stronger community connections.
Sustainability: By promoting alternative modes of transportation, we help reduce traffic congestion, lower carbon emissions, and support a greener future for Hallandale Beach.
The City of Opa-locka has started a bold, new initiative to make our streets safer for everyone. This includes people of all ages and abilities, whether they’re drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists, or public transportation riders. The City aims to eliminate all road deaths and serious injuries by 2030 through its Vision Zero goal. To achieve this, the City is putting together a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan (CSAP), funded by a SS4A Grant. This plan will pinpoint safety issues and outline specific actions to enhance safety for all travel modes throughout the City. Vision Zero believes that traffic deaths and injuries are preventable and strives to create safer streets through engineering, education, enforcement, and community engagement. Your input is crucial to shaping this plan, and there are many ways for you to get involved!
